I also thanked Governor Samuel García, for making this possible, in addition to thanking the trust of Elon Musk, Tesla and their directors.

For the mayor of this city, Tesla's arrival is a great achievement that will help push the city to show its capacity to the international community.

This statement is the reason that Tesla has other plants in China, Germany and the United States.

Even though this news was announced, the official announcement and details of the inversion will be given to Tesla's executives.

However, it was noted that Tesla's investment represents five times the private investment that has arrived in the last 10 years in Santa Catarina.

This March 1, Tesla Motors directors will announce to their inverters the details of the construction of the Gigafactory.

About Santa Catarina and construction

Santa Catarina is located 9 kilometers from Monterrey, close to Saltillo, Coahuila, in addition to being close to the border between Mexico and the United States.

For this reason, this city offers great advantages for the construction of the Gigafactory, due to its proximity to several providers.

It is understood that Tesla will occupy more than a thousand hectares, and will be built on land that belonged to the Santa Catarina Hippodrome.

It is estimated that the plant could reach an area of 1 kilometer wide, which is why it requires approximately one thousand hectares.

This requirement can be fulfilled by Santa Catarina, which has a depopulated area available for this industrial complex.

To guarantee water supply in this industrial sector, the Secretary of Economy of Nuevo León indicated that deep wells and small wells are being developed.

As it is estimated that this construction could take two years, they consider that this is enough time to solve the water supply in the region.

Other challenges that Santa Catarina will have to face are increasing energy and natural gas capacity to meet Tesla's demand.
